For several years I have been developing a body of work 'Biometrics Portrait' series. It appropriates the aesthetics from 'biometrics' photography found in identification documents in the high-realism painting to question the notion of identities. This project has involved various sitters from different socio-cultural backgrounds painted all in the same manner. In this particular collection, the sitter is a friend of the artist who was an asylum seeker from Mali. The portrait has also been exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery, London as part of the BP Portrait Award show in 2019.
