My name is Michael Smith, I’m a proud husband and father to 2 teen adults. I’m originally from Washington State but am now a Las Vegas resident since 2002.

Art has always been a part of my life without any formal training, from sketching cars at an early age of 6 to eventually picking up my first paintbrush and laying acrylic on canvas at age 42. Since then sketching and painting are my main mode of art as well as color pencils and markers. I am now beginning to dabble into the digital art medium, another learning curve for me, yet, met with the same enthusiasm as I did painting. I don’t exactly have a ‘standard’ or ‘type’ of art I create except couple of prevailing aspects, that being my attention to detail, perspective and utilizing immense research on my ideas and subjects.

Although I’ll admit my strength is using a reference of some type, I can also formulate ideas and go from there. If there’s enough inspiration or urge, I+ then allow my creative side to play out. Outside of art I enjoy being with family and friends, traveling, football(go niners!), music, jiu jitsu. My greatest appreciation is to share my vision and creativity with my art for others to experience and feel their enjoyment within it!

American Urban Life

I paint what I see. I wish to share the beauty and tragedy of the American urban experience. The fight is real, the times are tough, yet well all strive to live and love the best we can. I choose to use my art to connect communities. I will use a portion of the funds to support urban education and families who need help. We are the care takers of the new world. Through Art wonderful things can happen.

NP Niceper Planet

Imagine a planet somewhere in our Galaxy  that is inhabited by nice persons. Not necessarily nice people, because they are not human,  but nice persons, or Nicepers. Because that is what the inhabitants of this planet are called. Nicepers are more evolved than humans, because they have left their primordial insticts behind.


Nicepers do not go to war with eachother. They do not engage in petty arguments. Instead they all share a common vision of their existence which is simply to make life as easy and pleasant for one another as possible. Sounds great, doesn't it? What if all people on earth would behave like this? What if our main purpose was to first look after our fellow men and women, and be concerned about their happiness? This is the imaginary planet called NiceperPlanet, and this project aims to get us there...a little step at a time.
