Aggeliki Germakopoulou is a visual artist from Greece. Her interest lies in the intersection between handmade and technology. Specifically, she incorporates various technologies in wearables or in combination with handmade sculptures and audiovisual installations. She holds a BSc, in Mathematics and Fine Arts and is currently in the second year of Master in Digital Arts in Athens School of Fine Arts. After her studies, she combined her artworks with garments with incorporated technologies and experimented with new media. She is working with several software (Blender, ZBrush, 3DsMax, Touchdesigner, Processing, Spark AR, Resolume Arena, Adobe Suite etc) to create visuals and 3D animation.
In the context of cooperation with several music record labels, she creates and performs real-time visual effects and manipulates music-driven lighting, for art and entertainment venues, usually accompanied by electronic music. In addition to the live performances, as a visual artist she has participated in several exhibitions and festivals in Europe.
Aether
In Greek mythology, Aether was a primordial god of light, the son of Erebus (darkness) and Nyx (night). He was the personification of the upper atmosphere that only gods breathe, as opposed to the normal air breathed by mortals. As a primordial god, Aether wasn’t depicted as a humanoid personification of an element. Instead, Aether was considered to literally be that element. This means that all of the air between the sky and Earth’s air was considered to literally be Aether. Due to its ethereal nature Aether representations use a node-based visual programming language. I experimented had a variable form. In this collection, I intended to approach his different forms. So I created twenty-six unique with different parameters until achieving the desired atmosphere. I used continuous white rings of various shapes and emissions of light, in total black background in order to create the illusion of layers of gases symbolizing the primordial god Aether.
